A quick note on why people turn to AI tools instead of Google/YouTube search?
I was both surprised and not when I read that based on Ahref’s research (https://ahrefs.com/blog/ai-search-overlap/) Only 12% of AI Cited URLs Rank in Google’s Top 10 for the Original Prompt.
“A 2,000-word SEO article optimized for "project management software" with keyword-stuffed H2s and no clear entity definitions might rank #1 on Google but score poorly for semantic similarity in a RAG system.” it says on discoveredlabs’ blog post about AI Citations (https://discoveredlabs.com/blog/ai-citation-patterns-how-chatgpt-claude-and-perplexity-choose-sources).
Marketers have learned to cheat the system and optimize their content for the status quo but seems like the tables have turned to make this type of content obsolete. And people looking for reliable information are understandably turning to LLMs to dig out the actual useful information for them. Almost like an assistant doing the grunt work.
